Common questions
What is a “shadow item”?
A shadow item is something you are considering buying. The App estimates opportunity cost (time cost, alternatives, savings impact, budget pressure, goal delay) so you can decide with a cool head.
Free vs Pro
- Free: limited shadow items per month, basic opportunity cost, 1 financial goal.
- Pro (monthly / yearly / lifetime): unlimited items, advanced scenarios, persona report, multiple goals, PDF export, all scenario packs.
- Scenario packs: can be purchased individually if you do not subscribe to Pro.
Restore purchases
Open the upgrade screen and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple ID (or sandbox Apple ID) that made the original purchase.
Upgrade from monthly to yearly or lifetime
- Monthly → Yearly: use Upgrade to Yearly on the paywall (same subscription group; Apple handles proration).
- Monthly / Yearly → Lifetime: use Upgrade to Lifetime, then cancel the auto-renewing subscription in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions to avoid double billing.
Cancel a subscription
On your iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → ShadowBudget, then cancel. Deleting the App does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Where is my data stored?
On your device (and the App Group used by the widget). We do not upload your shadow list to our servers. See the Privacy Policy.
